Pelvic Therapy
Many people struggle for years before they find the right care to address issues like urinary incontinence, bowel dysfunction, or chronic pain. Even persistent headaches can often be traced back to pelvic floor health.
It is important to remember: Just because a symptom is common doesn't mean it’s "normal." Whether it’s scar tissue from childbirth or surgery, abnormal periods or chronic pain—these physical blocks can impact your entire body. You don't have to navigate these "unspoken" challenges alone.
Pelvic Therapy Can Help With:
-
When lifting, sneezing, coughing or laughing, bending down or having that "Gotta Go!" urge.
-
You may feel a buldge or a heavy feeling in the vagina or rectum.
-
Scar tissue, muscle tension, muscle weakness and instability, trauma, posture and how we breath can create pain.
-
From episiotomy, tearing during delivery, C-cection, or any abdominal, back or hip surgery can cause scar tissue to develope in the pelvic floor, which will effect the mobility and function of the surrounding tissues.
-
Can contribute to poor breathing patterns, headaches, shoulder tension, poor posture, pain, increase urinary issues, digestive issues and painful intimacy.
-
Difficulty with orgasm, painful tissue on the outside (vulva), painful entry or deep pain.
-
Heavy, painful or irregular menstrual cycles, difficulty getting pregnant, pregnancy losses.
-
Throughout the monthly cycle, perimenopause, or menopause.

Sex Counseling
By combining OT + Sex Counseling, I provide a holistic, non-judgmental, trauma informed approach to sexual wellness. This is not long term talk therapy. My services are meant to be a short duration that provide actionable strategies that you can put into practice right away. Many people see positive results in as little as one visit!
My OT role as a Sex Counselor:
In OT, an "occupation" is anything that occupies your time and brings meaning to your life. When a person has a pelvic injury, surgery, or chronic pain, their ability to participate in the "occupation" of sex/intimacy is disrupted.
Curiosity, Creativity, Communication
Find the language to ask for what you need, set healthy boundaries, and explore your unique sexuality from a place of curiosity, not shame or embarrassment.
Physical Adaptation
As an OT, I might suggest specific positioning, the use of pillows/wedges, products, equipment or energy conservation techniques for clients with chronic fatigue, pain or limited mobility
Sensory Processing
We address how your brain processes sensory stimulation. Things like touch, lighting, or sound can feel soothing or overwhelming for a postpartum mom or a neurodivergent person.
Habit Training
I help clients rebuild the habit of connection after it has been replaced by the habit of medical appointments, parenting, or just... life.
Sex Counseling and Sex Therapy are not the same!
Sex Therapy is a psychotherapy specialty that is provided by a trained and licensed mental health therapist. If the need for a sex therapist arises, Brave Body Wellness will be happy to provide you with a referral.
In-Person
Abdominal Therapy
(A client fav!)
A gentle hands on therapy approach working through the front of the abdomen, back, sacrum and tailbone. Abdominal Therapy may improve symptoms of painful or irregular menstrual cycles, PMS, cysts and fibroids, break up scar tissue, realign displaced or prolapsed pelvic organs such as bladder or uterus, relieve symptoms of endometriosis, facilitate healthy fertility, relieve menopausal symptoms, and digestive issues. Abdominal Therapy is offered as a supportive modality to enhance health and wellness, and is not meant as an entire approach to health care. If you have any serious medical conditions, please consult your health care provider first.
Trauma Informed Care
What does this mean?
The experiences that we have throughout our lives have an impact on every aspect of our being. These experiences can change the way we experience our body and the world around us. I am proud to offer my clients a safe, non-judgmental space to process their experiences and explore the root causes of their challenges, learn more about themselves and find the solutions that best fit their needs. This isn't bandaid care, this approach creates outcomes that last a lifetime!
